The 5th Grade Olympic Pentathlon was inspired by the Waldorf School curriculum and Spacial Dynamics. The 5th Grade athletes live in harmony with their bodies and the Gods of Mt. Olympus. As they approach their fall into puberty and become ripe for the earth, they long to move with beauty, grace, power and speed as they compete and strive together towards becoming truly human. All of their movements are offered as gifts to the Greek Gods on Mt. Olympus.

Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm has hosted the 5th Grade Olympiad since 1991. Over 250 athletes from Waldorf Schools and Waldorf Charter Schools come together each May to run, jump, throw javelin & discus and wrestle as the Olympic Flame burns in the temple on our track.
